Trump Says He Would Ban Sharia Law Across America—What His Statement Really Means

A political statement by President Donald Trump has drawn attention online after a social media post claimed he supports federally banning Sharia law in every U.S. state. The post also included the religious declaration “Jesus Christ is King,” adding to the strong reactions surrounding the issue.

But what did Trump actually say, and does his statement mean a nationwide ban has already become law?

What Trump Said About Sharia Law

During an interview with conservative commentator Glenn Beck on August 26, 2026, Trump was asked directly whether he would support or sign a “no Sharia law” act for America.

Trump responded by saying he would “absolutely prohibit” Sharia law in the United States. He also argued that the country should have one legal system.

The remarks confirm that Trump expressed support for restricting the application of Sharia law in the country. However, expressing support during an interview is not the same as signing legislation, issuing an enforceable executive order, or establishing a nationwide legal prohibition.
